The Ijaw Association of Australia originally started under the name

Sydney, New South Wales on Saturday, 26th March 2016.
Over the years, the plan to expand the base of the group increased.
At the Association’s meeting held on Saturday, 21st January 2023, the
members overwhelming agreed and voted to change the name to the
Ijaw Association of Australia. With the change, the membership
numbers increased.
The Association is registered with the State of Queensland Department
